Wealth And Success

WHAT IS ‘WEALTH’ AS PER THE VEDAS?

The Sanskrit word for wealth is Dhana which also means money, capital, assets, treasure, property, riches and booty. ‘Dhana’ is a broader term, but the word ‘Artha’ is the broadest one which includes ‘Dhana’ also. Artha is one of the Four goals of life; the others are Dharma (religion, principles and morality, Kama (Pleasures, desires, sensual and emotional contentment) and Moksha (liberation from the world). ‘Artha’ translates as ‘meaning, sense, goal, purpose in life. It represents a means to attain the state the person wishes to be in. The ultimate goal in life is self-realization. Self-realization is rediscovering one’s innate qualities of stability, creativity, power, abundance, forgiveness, compassion, expressiveness, acceptance, and gratitude. These are all offshoots of one single all-encompassing emotion which is love.

Dhana, in a deeper spiritual sense, represents the all-auspicious Lakshmi. In the Atharva Veda (7:155), it is mentioned that a thousand Lakshmis are born with the birth of a virtuous and auspicious being. This signifies the auspiciousness of Hers. The Sanskrit word ‘Lakshya’ meaning ‘aim’ also derives from ‘Lakshmi’. The purpose (aim) of life is to attain both, material prosperity and spiritual success. And Goddess Lakshmi, when pleased with the pure heart of Her worshipper, bestows upon them both. It is given in the Shatapatha Brahmana (a Vedic treatise on the preparations for rites and rituals) that the original form of Lakshmi is Sri which is the auspicious energy (consort) of Lord Vishnu. It is Sri from who the gods derive their powers to execute their aims (Lakshya) in the matter of cosmic maintenance. Therefore the purpose (Lakshya) of karma is associated with Sri or Lakshmi. In a deeper sense of spirituality, one’s ultimate aim is to completely get detach from the unnecessary objects that hinder one’s material as well as spiritual paths. Goddess Lakshmi sits on the lotus and has elephants showering water behind Her. The Elephants showering water are divine, called the Airaavats, and represent purity in mind. Symbolically, one should water down all the past memories (depressing experiences) that hold them back from re-discovering their true Self.

WEALTH AND SPIRITUALITY

It seems, in contrast, to keep spirituality and wealth together in a box, as the core idea of spirituality is to detach from worldly matters, which include wealth. However, one’s spiritual strength if directed well with the help of introspection, can attract an amount of wealth one naturally desires and deserves. A person with a spiritual mindset can actually attract wealth more than those gross materialists whose only aim is to go on accumulating wealth without caring for anything or anyone else. This is because a spiritual person ‘thinks’ and have questions regarding everything in life. And when you have questions, your mind tends to think and tries reaching out to the roots of problems. When the roots are identified, they are immediately wiped out and a new fresh way of acquiring the desired objects is established.

In the case of wealth, one must know the purpose (artha) of accumulating wealth. When one accumulates wealth through his buddhi (intelligence) and honest endeavours, it may be said Lakshmi. Such wealth generally is also used for philanthropic causes. When one ‘amasses’ wealth through immoral means, it is said to be ill-gotten Dhana, which causes miseries later in life. Therefore it is necessary to understand the difference between the two.

One must therefore earn money and wealth for staying in harmony with everything and everyone around them. In the Bhagavat Purana (11.17.51) it is given:

यदृच्छाया उपपन्नेना शुक्लेना उपार्जितेना वा
धनेना अपिदायन भृत्यान न्यायेना ईवा आहरेत क्रतून

yadṛcchayā upapannena śuklena upārjitena vā
dhanena apīḍayan bhṛtyān nyāyena eva āharet kratūn

“A householder should comfortably maintain his dependents either with money that comes of its own accord or with that gathered by honest execution of one’s duties. According to one’s means, one should perform sacrifices and other religious ceremonies.”

A person, especially in a householder’s life, must earn money and wealth to maintain his family and engage in various religious and spiritual practices such as pujas, havans and meditation. The verse says, “money that comes of its own accord”, which means one must NOT madly chase money or accumulate wealth. Instead one should simply and honestly work to create sources of money that ensure financial stability, security and reputation. Honest endeavours always pay off in the long run. That is the law of karma.

If you are financially sound, leading your life is just stress-free. In her acclaimed work 'The Prosperity Plan,' the author and financial expert Laura B. Fortgang emphatically state that one can for sure train their subconscious mind, to achieve wealth, financial stability and prosperity with a positive attitude developed through an understanding of one’s relationship with the external factors related to wealth accumulation. Various thinkers, philosophers, spiritualists and logicians have concluded that wealth and abundance are important aspects of our life. These aspects help you earn respect from your fellow beings, your community, and society in general.

CAN SPIRITUALITY HELP YOU ATTRACT WEALTH IF SPIRITUALITY IS ALL ABOUT GIVING UP ATTACHMENTS TO MATERIAL OBJECTS?

Remember, spirituality is all about being inquisitive about the natural functions of the Universe or curious to view things as they are. When you develop a spiritual sense through yoga, meditation, introspection, energized items such as Rudraksha, scriptural reading and other activities, your mind tends to question everything wrong in your life and find out the ways to reach what your deserve. Through spirituality one can realize that joy, fulfillment and abundance are the natural aspects of life. Once you have realized this, you more and more tune to that. What you are is what you create. So an abundant attitude creates opportunities and magnetizes your environment to make you achieve prosperity.

When you get in touch with those who have broader visions, spiritual attitudes and a highly developed sense of benevolence toward creating wealth for all (not just for their own self), you gradually tend to have positive affirmations about money, power and wealth in your subconscious mind. Your mind begins to find out ways to create wealth as your vision slowly comes out of the box. But before we move on to finding out how to create wealth with a spiritual attitude.

A burning desire inside to create wealth with a calm, sensible, thoughtful mind discovers the definite ways of attracting wealth. Positive affirmations are articulated or expressed when you experience an urge to create wealth. Following this, everything, including your conscious mind, subconscious mind, body, heart and soul, all join hands in attracting wealth.

BEST AFFIRMATION FOR MONEY, POWER AND SUCCESS

To earn money and wealth for maintaining one’s family is one of man’s primary desires in life. Those who are successful want to maintain and expand their wealth, while there are others who see that life goal shining before them. In both cases, what matters the most is a positive attitude cultivated through one’s affirmations. When one is surrounded by those who have visions and a positive attitude toward creating wealth, they tend to have positive affirmations about money, power and success in their subconscious mind. Those affirmations are articulated or expressed when they experience an urge to create wealth. Following this, everything, including the conscious mind, subconscious mind, body, heart and soul, joins hands in attracting wealth.

HOW TO ATTRACT MONEY INTO LIFE: DIVINE ASSISTANCE

Having a well-paying job is one way to increase your wealth gradually, yet there is another level of attracting the idea of wealth, wish fulfilment and prosperity. The essential part is spiritually developing a mindset that attracts abundance/money into one's life. And spirituality is developed through practice, observing nature, questioning everything in a positive way, reading the scriptures under proper guidance and wearing sacred items such as Rudrakshas, and gemstones under proper method.

Keep in mind that no one becomes affluent overnight. When you know your limits and the level of wealth you deserve, financial opportunities find their way to you. The following sacred items would assist you along your way to earning money or creating wealth or wealth opportunities for others.
