Lord Hanuman is worshipped for power and protection. Hanuman is described to be one for whom nothing is impossible and who is the embodiment of faith, devotion, fearlessness, self-confidence, and loyalty. Valmiki goes on to point out that success is the outcome of such an attitude. Hanuman in one interpretation is the incarnation or reflection of Shiva. 

Other interpretations such as that of Dvaita consider Hanuman to be the son or a manifestation of Vayu, god of wind. 

Hanuman, the well-known monkey god, can be seen in temples throughout the country. In some temples his image is set up alone standing with a mace in the right hand or sitting in a devotional posture before the images of Rama and Sita. He is considered to be the god of power and strength, who remained a celibate through his whole life.
