Bring home and nurture a sacred Nepal Rudraksha tree (Elaeocarpus ganitrus) in your garden.
Our Rudraksha plants are grown from the Nepal variety of Elaeocarpus ganitrus, the species traditionally valued for producing high-quality Rudraksha beads. A mature tree can naturally produce Rudraksha fruits containing beads of different Mukhi formations.
Rudraksha trees grow naturally across the Himalayan foothills and parts of South and Southeast Asia. Under suitable growing conditions, the tree may begin bearing fruits after approximately 6–7 years.
The fruits develop a beautiful blue outer covering when ripe, which is why Rudraksha fruits are sometimes referred to as blueberry beads. In its natural habitat, a mature Rudraksha tree can grow approximately 10–30 metres in height.
We supply Elaeocarpus ganitrus plants originally sourced from Nepal. These should not be confused with other locally grown varieties that may sometimes be marketed as Nepal Rudraksha plants.
Common Name: Rudraksha
Botanical Name: Elaeocarpus ganitrus
Flower Colour: White
Blooming Period: October to December
Mature Height: Approximately 10–30 metres
Growing Difficulty: Moderate
Rudraksha grows best in a warm, humid environment with good sunlight and well-drained, fertile soil.
Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade
Soil: Fertile, well-drained soil
Watering: Moderate; keep the soil moist but avoid waterlogging
Fertilizer: Preferably organic fertilizers and compost
Young plants should be protected from extreme heat, frost and harsh weather conditions. As the plant grows, ensure that it has sufficient space for healthy root and branch development.
A healthy young Rudraksha plant will be supplied in a small plastic pot. As the plant grows, it should be transferred to a larger pot or planted directly in the ground where sufficient space is available.
