Shaligram shila is considered sacred as it represents Lord Vishnu and is a self-manifested stone found in the Kali Gandaki river, Nepal. Sudarshan is the name of Lord Vishnu's Chakra, discus weapon, which is held in one of His hands and is also one of His emblems.
