Tirupati Balaji, also known as Bhagawan Venkateshwara, is a divine manifestation of Bhagawan Vishnu. In the Brahmanda and Bhavishyottara Puranas, the term "Venkata" is defined as the "destroyer of sins." This name originates from the Sanskrit words "vem" (sins) and "kata" (power of immunity). Bhagawan Kubera is said to have lent money to the deity Venkateshwara, for his marriage with Padmavati. To honor this tradition, devotees visiting Tirupati donate money to the Venkateshwara Hundi, seeking blessings by repaying Kubera.
