To understand the true shape of the 1 mukhi rudraksha, we must first examine how other rudrakshas are geometrically shaped based on their seeds. Now sit facing the North East direction of your house. Take a copper vessel mix water and holy ‘Gangajal’ in it. Now place the one mukhi Rudraksha in it and wash it gently. Now take 9 leaves of peepal tree, place them on a copper plate now place the one mukhi Rudraksha on the leaves. Now with the help of a fresh flower sprinkle plain water and gangajal mixture on the Rudraksha bead. Now apply some sandal wood paste on the Rudraksha, and offer fresh flowers. Finally, light a diya besides the vessel in which the Rudraksha is kept. Light dhoop sticks and offer fumes to the Rudraksha. Now with a pure and focused mind chant the Mantra "AUM NAMAH SHIVAYA" and/or "AUM HREEM NAMAH" 108 times.

Rules to Wear 1 Mukhi Rudraksha

The energy of the Rudraksha is in its seeds, so ensure that the Rudraksha you are wearing has no cracks. While external surface fractures are permissible (but should be avoided), there should be no fissures that reach the seeds, which must be fully intact.

Ensure that the rudraksha beads you are wearing are healthy and are not infested with insects or molds.

Anyone regardless of their gender, caste, religion or age can wear Rudraksha, women can wear rudraksha during their menstrual cycle as well.

There are no dietary restrictions associated with wearing Rudraksha, such as abstinence from alcohol and meat. How to Identify Original 1 mukhi Rudraksha?

Some fraudulent tests have gained popularity and must be avoided because their results are unreliable and they cannot be used to determine the authenticity of Rudraksha.

The Fake tests are the Water Test, Milk test or Copper Coin Rotation Test. All these tests are unscientific and produce untrustworthy results.

One way to determine the originality of Rudraksha beads is to take an X-ray. In an X-ray, the compartment and seeds inside the Rudraksha are observable, and their number should ideally correspond to the number of Mukhi lines on the bead. Sometimes all seeds are not visible as they get compressed during formation and compartments are very close to each other, though.

How to Spot Fake (Manipulated) 1 Mukhi Rudraksha Beads?

Rudraksha beads are the most expensive beads on Earth and unfortunately due to this, the most faked ones. This is particularly true for the most sought after of all of them, the 1 mukhi rudraksha, the most faked rudraksha bead.

Unscrupulous sellers skilfully obliterate all but one line of four or five mukhi rudraksha beads to make it appear a 1 mukhi bead. Sometimes a stem is glued to it to make it appear as a natural bead plucked from the tree. These vendors carve a line in an underdeveloped rudraksha bead. On seeing the X-Ray images of these beads, one can see very clearly that they have actually multiple compartments inside and not one.

Again, it is imperative to associate “mukhis” with compartments rather than with the outer appearance on their surface. Many times seeds from other trees that are round in shape are carved with a line and a hole created in them to dupe the buyers. Several stories around them are created to mystify this bead and create a high value for it. However due to its inner structure the real 1 mukhi rudraksha cannot be round.

Nowadays a commonly sold one mukhi is a broken piece from a natural Savar Naag rudraksha that has one mukhi as one of the two adjoined beads. Such a conjoined bead is also called one mukhi Savar Naag. However, this is not a genuine one mukhi rudraksha, but rather a broken Savar Naag bead.

One mukhi beads that are available in half-moon cashew shape also known as Half Moon 1 mukhis are not actually sourced from the Rudraksha tree but from the Bhadraksha tree instead. This is a cousin specie of Rudraksha that has not the properties or the vibration of a real Rudraksha tree and also its production is much more abundant in higher amounts than real Rudraksha fruits, which are rarer and scarce, and particularly the authentic 1 mukhi rudraksha from Indonesia.

The Round 1 Mukhi Rudraksha Myth

Rudra Centre does not sell round one mukhi from Nepal because it does not exist. The supposedly one mukhi round-shaped rudraksha bead is the largest fake one mukhi sold to customers. Some sellers rub a five mukhi rudraksha to fade away the mukhi lines and then carve a line on the same rudraksha to make it appear like a rudraksha with one mukhi line or groove. A stem is also glued to it to make it appear as a natural bead plucked from the tree and sometimes the bead is carved with symbols like Om or the Shiva’s Trishul making these appear as if they are exceptional rare mukhi rudrakshas.

In other cases the beads are entirely made from other materials such as plastic or wood simulating the weight of a genuine round rudraksha beads. Indeed, there are numerous vendors of these round 1 mukhi beads on the internet, all of them claiming they are obtained from Nepal and they are “true” rudrakshas.

In more than two decades of procuring rudraksha beads from Nepal, Rudra Centre has never encountered a single one mukhi Nepal rudraksha, nor has it ever seen a round one-mukhi rudraksha from Java, Indonesia.

1 Mukhi Half Moon Bhadraksha

The Ek mukhi beads which are available in half-moon cashew shape are not actually the real ek mukhi Rudraksha from Nepal but are sourced from Sri Lanka and South India and they are of a different plant species known as Bhadraksha and not Rudraksha, despite being sold by some sellers as the Nepal variety of the 1 mukhi rudraksha or upholding it is the real 1 mukhi rudraksha, when it is not.

Rudra Centre does not recommend it for any healing therapy as, we have tested it and does not display any therapeutic effects which are found in an authentic one mukhi Rudraksha. Differences between Rudraksha and Bhadraksha

Bhadraksha beads have grooves like the Rudraksha but they are not thorny but are whorls like a human brain, and is lighter in weight compared to Rudraksha. Its seed is similar to a mango seed, and when a hole is drilled into the bead, it breaks because it lacks natural holes like natural and real Rudraksha beads.

Bhadraksha only grows in India and Sri Lanka, while Rudraksha grows in Java and Nepal, among other countries. Rudraksha is heavier than bhadraksha, indicating greater density and size. In addition, compared to bhadrakshas, the protrusions on the surface of rudrakshas are more sharper and rougher.

Rudraksha trees are the authentic source of rudraksha beads and their unique properties and vibrations that a Bhadraksha tree cannot produce, consequently a bead from a Bhadraksha fruit cannot be claimed to be a real Rudraksha bead.

Rudraksha fruits and seeds are both used in in Ayurveda because of their many healing properties and positive vibrations, whereas the toxicity of Bhadraksha fruit’s composition prevents birds from consuming it.

How to Clean & Maintain 1 mukhi Rudraksha?

Rudraksha beads can last a lifetime and be passed down through generations if cared for properly.

In cold and dry climates, rudraksha beads may develop surface-level cracks, in which case any natural unscented oil may be applied, such as olive oil, sandal oil, or cow ghee.

Rudraksha may develop molds and insects if they are kept in a humid place and unused for a long time, in this case follow the below steps:

• Dip the Rudraksha beads in lukewarm water for 15 mins.
• Clean any molds visible of the surface using a toothbrush.
• Dry them under the shade of the Sun (indirect Sunlight) or you can also use a dryer or hairdryer.
• After following the above steps, you can start wearing your rudraksha beads or combination again.

Follow the steps below to regularly clean your Rudraksha beads:

• Wash Rudraksha beads under running water.
• Scrub the surface of the rudraksha to remove any dust particles caught in the grooves, using a toothbrush.
