No single tree is as rich with scriptural references, spiritual significance, and legends as Rudraksha . Very few fruit seeds in the world have been given such careful consideration for their peculiarities or been categorized and evaluated based on their worth and special attributes.
Rudraksha beads have long been sought for their medicinal and mystical properties. The word Rudraksha (botanical name: Elaeocarpus Ganitrus) is derived from the words Rudra (Shiva) and Aksha (Eyes). Ancient spiritual texts like the Shiva Purana and the Devi Bhagavatam are replete with the numerous therapeutic properties and the spiritual significance of Rudraksha beads. Rudrakshas are known for their potent energies making them a powerful tool for Material & Spiritual upliftment. They are available in broadly 26 types in both Nepal & Java varieties defined by the grooves or Mukhi lines on the external surface, their prices are determined by their origin, rarity, shape & size. The powerful Rudraksha beads heal on an emotional, mental, physical, spiritual, and material level.
Scientific research has validated and confirmed the divine power of Rudraksha beads ranging from 1 Mukhi to 21 Mukhi. It has been shown that with the power of these beads, people from all walks of life, regardless of caste, creed, religion, nationality or gender, experience improved health and overall happiness, enhanced creative and intuitive abilities, thriving relationships, and material and spiritual fulfillment, ultimately allowing them to reach their full potential.
History of Rudraksha
For millennia, Rudraksha beads have been used as a miraculous tool for self-empowerment and enlightenment. Throughout history, Rudraksha beads have adorned the necks of saints, sages, and yogis in India, elevating their spiritual aspirations and serving as a pathway to the divine. Rudraksha beads have become widely popular among spiritual seekers from different cultures and traditions.
According to ancient legend, it is said that after thousands of years of meditation, when Bhagwan Shiva opened his eyes, He witnessed the suffering of mankind. Tears of compassion welled up in His eyes. When these tears fell to the ground,
Rudraksha trees
sprouted from them.
According to the ancient scripture of the Shiva Purana, an Asura named Tripurasur rose to power, causing distress among both humans and Devas with his tyranny. All the Devas turned to Bhagwan Shiva for help. In response Shiva decide to wield the power of the divine weapon “Aghor”. Overwhelmed with the destruction this weapon could potentially causes Tears rolled down his eyes and fell the ground giving rise to Rudraksha Trees.
There are some other Legends like when Bhagwan Shiva’s opened his eyes after deep meditation, tears of ecstasy rolled down his eyes and wherever they fell Rudraksha Trees emerged. As per another story when Sati Mata immolated herself witnessing the insult her Father Prajapati Daksha bestowed upon Bhagwan Shiva, a distraught Shiva roamed around the entire universe while crying with Sati’s corpse which disturbed the entire universe. Wherever these tears fell Rudraksha Trees emerged.
In all these stories Bhagwan Shiva experienced profound emotions & that led him to create these powerful Rudraksha beads for the benefits of the Humankind. Thus Rudraksha carry deep spiritual significance and are revered for their protective, healing & empowering properties.
Nowadays Rudraksha’s have transcended cultural boundaries and religious beliefs, they are recognized as powerful tools to manifest material & spiritual aspirations. Since 1997, Sakhashree Neeta, Director of Rudra Centre has performed extensive research in usage, storage, identification, maintenance, benefits, symbolism behind the divine Rudraksha beads. She has set standards which are being followed by Farmers & traders till today. Her extensive research from Puranas, Upanishads, Tantra & repeated experiments led to development of Rudraksha Ratna Chakra Therapy aka RRCT (Formerly Known as RRCT) which has healed & empowered more than 100,000 individuals worldwide. This patented therapy harnesses the full potential of Rudraksha beads which balance Chakras through resonance.

Where is Rudraksha Found in Nature?
Rudraksha (Scientific name: Elaeocarpus Ganitrus, English name, Utrasum Bead Tree, Indonesian name, Ganitri or Jenitri Tree) is a large genus of deciduous evergreen trees. The trees are nearly 50ft to 200ft in height and grow in the North Indian River Plain of the Himalayas to South-East Asia, Nepal and Indonesia. All trees produce white, fringed flowers that become olive-like drupes. The tree trunks are cylindrical and circular and have rough grayish white bark that has small vertical lenticels and narrow horizontal furrows. Rudraksha's branches spread in all directions, forming a pyramidal crown in its natural habitat. Rudraksha grows in subtropical climates between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius. Once the seeds are planted, they grow into trees (12 to 16 years) which begin to produce fruits which look like big sized blueberries.
Rudraksha Trees usually bear fruit after many years of cultivation. Initially Rudraksha fruits have a blue colored covering, when they are ripe either fall down naturally or are harvested by the farmers. If the fruits are dried up then this blue cover usually darkens and becomes Olive Green to Dark Brown in color, however most of the time the fresh fruits are soaked in water for a few days and the cover/pulp is removed to extract the Rudraksha Fruit, it is this fruit which is worn on the body for Healing & Empowerment. Rudraksha trees thrive predominantly in Nepal and South East Asia, notably in Java (Indonesia). Some trees are also found in Malaysia, Thailand, India, Burma, among other regions. As per our research Rudraksha from Nepal & Java are the most superior and are used as tools for Healing.
In Nepal they are found along the Himalayan foothills situated above 2000 meters sea level. Nepali Rudraksha botanically are large evergreen broad leaved trees that can reach heights up to 50 to 200 feet usually on hilly slopes. In Indonesia Javanese Rudraksha Trees thrive is a subtropical climate. They grow in tropical climates at lower elevations with diverse soil conditions and are often found in dense forests. They also take almost 10-12 years to mature and bear Rudraksha Fruits. The Broad Leaves provide ample shade to the flora and fauna. Javanese Rudraksha Trees contribute significantly to Rudraksha trade as most Rudraksha Malas used for Japa or Mantra chanting are derived from a specific variety of Javanese Rudraksha Trees. They also offer a wide range of mukhis similar to trees from Nepal.
Rudraksha turns from a white blossoms flower to a greenish fruit which turns blue when ripe before falling naturally from trees. After this most farmers remove the pulp, the lower mukhis which abundantly available are cleaned using a mixture of Sand & Glass whereas Higher Mukhi which are rare and higher priced are usually cleaned manually. After cleaning of these beads hard lustrous Rudraksha Seeds are obtained
In Nepal, Rudraksha trees follow a harvesting schedule that coincides with their natural seasons of production. Farmers typically gather the ripe Rudraksha fruits twice a year, respecting the tree's seasonal rhythm. The initial harvest takes place between March and May, coinciding with the lively spring season when the trees are at their maximum blossoming. The second harvest takes place between September and November, during the autumn months. This biannual harvesting tradition ensures a sustainable supply of Rudraksha beads while allowing the trees to thrive and reproduce naturally. In contrast to Nepal, the harvesting of Rudraksha trees in Indonesia is conducted in multiple stages throughout the year. This is attributed to the region's lush tropical climate, which fosters rapid growth and abundant fruiting cycles. Unlike the biannual harvests in Nepal, Indonesian farmers engage in several harvests annually to collect ripe Rudraksha fruits at various stages of maturity. This approach ensures a continuous supply of Rudraksha beads while preserving the trees in appropriate condition. By adapting to the natural rhythm of the trees and leveraging Indonesia's fertile environment, farmers can maintain a sustainable manner and satisfy the demand for these sacred beads.
In Indonesia, the cultivation of Rudraksha is notable for its prodigious production of Mukhis, specifically within the range of 2 to 10. This profusion exceeds what is commonly found in Nepal, due to the lush tropical climate of the island of Indonesia and its fertile soil, which fosters prolific growth. Enthusiasts and practitioners benefit from the plentiful availability of Rudraksha beads in these Mukhi counts, making them more accessible for spiritual and healing purposes. Thus, it is said that 70% of the rudraksha yield comes from Indonesia. However, it's important to note that while Indonesia boasts plentiful supplies of the more common Mukhis, such as those from 2 to 10, the rarer Mukhis from 14 mukhi and higher and Trijuti,Savar and Gauri Shankar remain as elusive as they are in Nepal. The One Mukhi Rudraksha is found in Indonesia only, not in Nepal where people try to sell a part of the Savar bead which has 1 face as the original 1 mukhi rudraksha.
Extensive research supports the premise that Indonesian and Nepalese Rudraksha beads provide the most diverse range of benefits and are renowned for their superior quality. These findings emphasize the significance of Rudraksha beads from these regions, revered for their spiritual power and therapeutic qualities.
Comparison Between Nepal & Indonesian Rudraksha
When comparing Nepal and Java Rudraksha beads, it's evident that while they share similarities in their internal structure, there are differences in their appearance and perceived effects. Both varieties of Rudraksha display Mukhi lines corresponding to the number of seeds and compartments inside the Rudraksha. This consistency guarantees that each Mukhi represents a specific number of seeds, allowing the wearer to identify the bead's properties based on its Mukhi count. For example, a 2 Mukhi variety will contain 2 seeds & 2 compartments, while an 8 Mukhi variety will have 8 seeds & 8 Compartments.
Before we understand the differences between Nepal & Java Rudraksha, we need to know about the similarities. The internal structure of both Nepali & Javanese Rudraksha is almost the same, they have a natural hole in the center, compartments & seeds corresponding to the Mukhi lines, that means a 5 mukhi Rudraksha of either Nepal or Java variety will be 5 compartments and 5 seeds. This can be verified from an X ray of the Rudraksha (Note: sometimes the seeds get compressed during formation so are not completely visible however you will be able to see the compartments). The shape of Rudraksha of different mukhis also changes for both Nepal & Java Variety like a 2 mukhi will be elliptical, 3 mukhi will be triangular, 4 mukhi squarish, 5 mukhi will be Pentagonal & then beyond 10 mukhi beads become rounder and then Oval in shape. As per Sakhashree’s research both Nepali & Java Rudraksha of the same Mukhi have identical healing frequency and work on the same aspects, Chakras, Planets etc. Both produce beads ranging from 1-21 Mukhi, Trijuti, Gaurishankar, Garb Gauri, Savar & Ganesh Rudraksha, there have been rare cases of Higher Mukhi beyond 21 Mukhi in both varieties (Note: 1 Mukhi from Nepal is Extremely Rare, we recommend going for Javanese 1 Mukhi Rudraksha). The difference is in the external structure and the intensity of the healing frequency being emitted by the Rudraksha.
In terms of the external structure Nepal & Java Rudraksha have a few notable differences
Nepali Rudraksha
have deep grooves or Mukhi lines whereas
Java Rudraksha
have thin thread like Mukhi lines.
Nepali Rudraksha are larger in size and typically range from 14 to 45 mm whereas Java Rudraksha are smaller in comparison and typically range from 4mm to 25 mm.
Nepali Rudraksha have better luster, thornier protrusions & more pronounced features on the external surface in comparison to Java Rudraksha which have softer protrusions and thin Mukhi lines.
Research conducted by Sakhashree indicates that despite these similarities, the time duration for experiencing results may vary between Nepal and Java beads. Feedback from users shows that the effects of the same Mukhi Rudraksha from both regions are comparable, but time it takes from the effects of show results vary. Nepal beads, with their larger size deeply etched Mukhi lines and thorny protrusions, exhibit a higher intensity of healing frequency, resulting in quicker results. On the other hand, Java beads, with their smaller size and softer projections resembling threads, may take a bit longer to manifest effects. Typically, wearers report feeling the resonance of Nepal beads within 3-5 days, while Java beads may take around 10-12 days to show comparable results. However over a long period of time the results achieved from Nepali and Java Rudraksha beads are almost similar. Javanese Rudraksha can be converted into beautiful pieces of jewelry because of their delicate and small size whereas Orthodox collector of Rudraksha only prefer Nepali Rudraksha. When closely examining Rudraksha beads from Nepal and Java, it is evident that each holds its own unique allure, yet both are esteemed for their shared spiritual significance and healing properties across spiritual communities worldwide.
The choice between Nepalese and Indonesian Rudraksha beads boils down to personal preference. Some individuals are drawn to the larger and more prominent shape of Nepalese beads, appreciating their perceived ability to provide faster advantages. These beads, with their deeply etched Mukhi lines and pronounced features, symbolize spiritual development, healing, and safeguarding. On the other hand, Java beads attract others for their smaller size, smoother texture, and convenient wearability. Their compact nature lends itself well to being worn as jewelry pieces, adding an element of elegance to personal adornment. This versatility makes Java beads a preferred choice for those seeking both spiritual benefits and aesthetic appeal.
Ultimately, whether one chooses Nepalese or Java Rudraksha beads, the fundamental spiritual significance and transformative potential remain unaltered. Each bead carries divine energy that resonates with the wearer, supporting their journey towards inner peace, harmony, and enlightenment.

How Does Rudraksha Work?
Rudraksha beads possess remarkable properties that contribute to their profound impact on overall well-being, drawing from both ancient wisdom and modern scientific research. Dr. Suhas Rai's groundbreaking studies have provided valuable insights into the bioelectric and magnetic properties of these sacred beads. At the core of Rudraksha's effectiveness is its unique ability to store and emit bioelectric energy, essentially functioning as natural capacitors for the flow of vital energy within the body. When worn as necklaces, malas, bracelets, or in direct contact with the body, Rudraksha beads work as capacitors, facilitating the efficient flow of bioelectricity. Rudraksha operates by resonating with the body’s energy centers, known as chakras. Each Rudraksha bead resonates with a specific chakra, aiding to bring it into alignment and balance. When Chakras are overactive i.e. when they are releasing too much frequency the Rudraksha absorbs the excess energy & when Chakras are underactive i.e. when they rotate sluggishly the Rudraksha provides energy bringing the Chakra to a state of balance. Each Chakra is associated with a specific endocrine gland (e.g. Throat Chakra governs the thyroid gland), governs a specific system within the body (e.g. Muladhara is associated with the Skeletal System), relates to a spiritual lesson or aspect of life. By alleviating stress and blockages within the chakras, Rudraksha beads promote overall physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The frequency of the Rudraksha beads is determined by their Mukhis, which in turn is connected to planetary influences, deities, and divine energies. This alignment enables Rudraksha beads to balance different chakras of the body, fostering harmony and vitality.
Moreover, the dynamic polarity of Rudraksha beads allows them to function like magnets, engaging with the body's magnetic field. Biological processes such as blood circulation and heartbeat create a magnetic field around the chest and the heart. The induced magnetic field causes Rudraksha beads to emit subtle electrical and inductive impulses with opposite polarity and intensity, contributing to the optimization of body functions and blood circulation.
In essence, Rudraksha beads play a crucial role in regulating manifold functions and processes within the body, including the nervous system, thereby promoting overall health and well-being. Through their innate properties and resonance with the body's energy systems, Rudraksha beads offer a holistic approach to healing and spiritual growth.

Scientific & Ayurvedic Research & Studies in Rudraksha
With the development of modern science, scientists sought evidence to back up the ancient belief in the significance of Rudraksha. The benefits of Rudraksha were proven in the late 1960's by a group of scientists directed by Dr. Suhas Rai from the Institute of Technology University, Banaras, India. Dr. Rai's research supported the ancient belief that the inner structure of Rudraksha beads, as described in the scriptures, undeniably contained subtle electromagnetic atoms that influenced the body.
Rudraksha beads contain 50.031% carbon, 0.95% nitrogen, 17.897% hydrogen and 30.53% oxygen. The tree has nearly 36 sister species, including Rudraksha. A single Rudraksha tree bears Rudraksha beads of different Mukhis (faces) at the same time, but higher Mukhis or faces are very rare to find and most of the Rudraksha beads are Five Mukhi. The beads show up in seasonal pattern every year around mid-August to mid-October.
Elaeocarpus Ganitrus (Rudraksha) is widely known for its healing properties. This herbal medicine is highly regarded in Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani for its curative and preventive properties. The leaves and bark of the Rudraksha tree are used to treat various diseases. It has a soothing effect on the mind and helps regulate body temperature. The seeds of the Rudraksha plant have a beneficial effect on both the neurological and circulatory systems, making them valuable in acupuncture and electromagnetic therapies.
According to Ayurvedic texts, Rudraksha fruits are known to have thermogenic and sedative effects and can help alleviate cough. They are also beneficial for treating bronchitis, neuralgia, cephalalgia, anorexia, epilepsy, migraine, neurological conditions, and other brain disorders. It has long been used in folk medicine to help with stress, anxiety, depression, palpitations, nerve pain, asthma, hypertension, arthritis, and liver diseases. In addition, it has been found to possess a wide range of pharmacological properties, including anti-inflammatory, analgesic, hypoglycemic, antiulcerogenic, and strong antimicrobial qualities.
In traditional medicine, Rudraksha is well known for its capacity to heal several neurological disorders and rejuvenate the central nervous system. It also has the ability to balance heart palpitations and offers significant antioxidant and anti-asthmatic benefits. Recent research has revealed properties that can help fight cancer by inhibiting cancerous cell proliferation.
There is an ever-evolving vast body of medical literature on the healing properties of Rudraksha, especially since the discovery of rudrakine in 1979, a powerful alkaloid found exclusively in the rudraksha seed.

Rudraksha in Vedic Scriptures | Quotes from Ancient Hindu Texts
Rudraksha is revered in the Vedas and the Puranas as a gift from Bhagawan Shiva, who shed tears of compassion for mankind. According to these scriptures, those who wear Rudraksha are blessed, protected, and enlightened. Its mention in the Vedas demonstrates its longstanding status as a sacred symbol of divine connection and inner transformation, inspiring generations of spiritual seekers.
The Rig Veda states - Rukha Dravyati Iti Rudra. Rukha signifies a state of suffering, while Dravyati denotes the act of eradicating it. Rudra is the bringer of relief from suffering. Rudra has the power to turn tears of sorrow into tears of bliss, symbolized by Rudraksha beads.
The Svetasvatara Upanishad identifies the supreme consciousness (Brahman) with Rudra, the essence of divinity. His name means “to cry” and represents the light that encompasses the entire universe. When one meets the divine, a profound sense of awe and wonder is evoked, often resulting in tears of pure joy. Therefore, Rudraksha beads embodies a profound sense of emotion, evoking tears of love, bliss, and gratitude.
सर्वेषामपि वक्त्राणा धोरणे यो समे भवेतू।
तस्मात्सर्व प्रयत्नेन रूद्राक्ष धारय।।
A person who wears all Rudraksha becomes Me I
Thus, one should attempt from all levels to wear the divine Rudraksha II
- Shiva in the Padma Purana
रूद्राक्षधारणादेव रूद्रोरूद्रत्वामाप्नुयात्।
मुनयः सत्यसड्कल्पा ब्रम्हा ब्रम्हात्वमागतः।।
Even Rudra attained Rudrahood only after wearing Rudraksha beads I
Saints achieve the ultimate truth and Brahma attains Brahamatav.
Thus there is nothing higher than wearing Rudraksha beads in this world II
- Padma Purana

How to Identify Original Rudraksha
In the expansive market of Rudraksha beads, it is crucial to be able to differentiate between genuine and fake ones. Unscrupulous practices abound, ranging from substituting other seeds for Rudraksha to adding false lines to mimic Mukhis and gluing pieces together to form a Rudraksha. These deceptive techniques underscore the importance of procuring Rudraksha from trustworthy sources to guarantee its authenticity.
Various methods are purported to authenticate Rudraksha beads, including the water test, copper coin test, and pendulum test. However, these methods frequently fail to accurately determine the authenticity of Rudraksha. For example, the water test involves soaking the bead in water and observing its buoyancy, but this method can be easily manipulated, making it unreliable. Similarly, the copper coin test entails making a bead rotate between two copper coins and it fails because fake rudraksha are often prepared from cheaper real rudraksha. In addition, the pendulum test, which involves suspending the bead from the thread and observing its motion, offers little empirical evidence of authenticity. These tests may yield inconclusive results and are susceptible to manipulation by dishonest sellers.
In contrast, the X-ray test emerges as the most reliable method for authenticating Rudraksha. This technique provides a conclusive evaluation of a Rudraksha's authenticity by revealing its internal structure. Genuine Rudraksha beads exhibit multiple compartments which can be confirmed through X-ray examination. However, it's essential to recognize the limitations of this test, particularly when dealing with uneven shaped beads or higher mukhis with multiple mukhi lines close to each other, where compartments may not be fully visible. It is important to note that while Rudraksha beads typically contain compartments that may or may not contain seeds inside, the efficacy of the bead remains independent of whether the compartment has a seed or not.
Considering the difficulties involved in Rudraksha testing, relying on trustworthy sources for procurement is crucial. While there are no government laboratories that conduct Rudraksha testing, multiple private companies have sprung up that offer testing with X-ray services. However, caution must be exercised with them, as a normal user will lack the skills to judge an x-ray, and this is exploited by most of these companies whose sole aim is profiteering through selling rather than an intention of satisfying the spiritual needs of the seekers.
It is important to consult experts and buy Rudraksha from reliable sources to guarantee authenticity and integrity. By adhering to these principles, one can confidently navigate the market and obtain genuine Rudraksha beads for spiritual and therapeutic purposes.

How to Choose Rudraksha? Rudraksha Buying Guide
To choose Rudraksha beads effectively, it is important to carefully consider the properties of the beads and select the ones that align closely with your personal desires, intentions and needs. The properties and vibrations of different rudraksha beads vary depending on their mukhis or faces, so you can wear either a single bead of a particular mukhi or a combination of different mukhis for added properties and power. It depends on whether you want to complement or enhance the power of the bead you already wear by adding more Rudraksha beads to your combination. It is not uncommon for individuals to seek out an appropriate Rudraksha bead in consideration of astrological factors, such as their birth chart; and certain companies frequently promote this idea.
On the other hand, we advise searching for a suitable Rudraksha primarily on the basis of personal concerns and receiving a personalized recommendation in accordance to Rudraksha Ratna Chakra Therapy, developed by Sakhashree Neeta. Our RRCT experts are highly skilled in identifying the chakras that require attention and selecting the appropriate combination of Rudraksha for healing and unblocking energy centers. Our Rudra Centre experts have been providing personalized recommendations for Rudraksha beads for many years, considering each individual's unique circumstances and requirements. If you'd like, you can schedule a consultation with our team. They will determine the best combination of Rudraksha for you. Note that Chakras Therapy is the mots superior healing modality as Chakras governs planets as well. Aligning to your Chakras also balances the planets in your horoscope. Once the best RRCT combination has been determined, other approaches such as astrology, meditation practice, or psychological counseling can be used to supplement but not replace the primary diagnostic tool which is based on chakra analysis and RRCT consultation.
Wearing Rudraksha as per RRCT helps one balance their Chakras and live out their full potential to manifest their Material & Spiritual aspirations. Shiva Purana says that one should strive to wear all Rudraksha beads from 1-21 mukhi however it is only a few fortunate people who are able to do so. The need to choose the appropriate Rudraksha beads based on our energetic requirements is consequently crucial.
Wearing Rudraksha for the First Time
You can wear Rudraksha from Rudra Centre right away without any prior procedure. Our Rudraksha beads are shipped blessed and energized. However, it's important to note that Rudraksha beads are naturally divine and possess their own properties. They do not require human intervention to be effective.
Conditioning Rudraksha beads by soaking them in ghee or milk before wearing them is unnecessary and may dull the natural luster of the beads. It also promotes the growth of insects, pests, and bacteria that deteriorate the bead. This method of consecration is not mentioned in any Shastra, despite its recent promotion by some internet gurus. Rudraksha is a natural agricultural product that must be properly cleaned when needed only, with no unnecessary extra procedures.
When you hold the Rudraksha beads in your hand for the first time, you can feel their vibrations right away.
Rudraksha pulses and vibrates with energy like a living thing. It has so much miraculous energy that it can give you almost anything. For this reason, we recommend that you hold your rudraksha in the palm of your hand after receiving it and think about the intention for which you are wearing it, emphasizing this moment as a key turning point in your life. You can chant the beeja mantra of your rudraksha or “Om Namah Shivaye”, to tune yourself to receiving the blessings of the beads. Note that chanting mantras is not compulsory for the beads to show their effect on you, but this process brings about change in your vibrations so that you draw in their energy more effectively in your aura chakra system and become more calmer and resonate deeply with them.
Try to wear your Rudraksha 24/7 even while sleeping for best results. If it is not possible for you wear them all time at least for the initial two weeks wear them 24/7 so they are resonance with your body then after that you can wear them for 12 hours a day, wear them during the day and remove at night and wear them again the next morning after bath.
Once you begin wearing Rudraksha according to Rudraksha Ratna Chakra Therapy (RRCT), you will notice its effects on your chakras in a relatively short period, typically within 3 to 8 days. Within the first 10 days of wearing it, you may experience a noticeable difference in both your emotional and physical well-being, depending on your sensitivity and receptivity to this natural therapy. Your thought process will be streamlined, you will be calmer and feel more energetic physically and mentally. As the Rudraksha establishes its connection with your energy centers, you will observe changes in various aspects of your life. This could include improvements in relationships, advancements in your career, and the attraction of favorable outcomes.
Rudraksha tends to darken with use due to natural body oils, moisture, and other environmental factors; this is natural and indicates that the Rudraksha beads are merging with your individual energy and vibrations.
Remember, if you want to maximize the benefits derived from wearing Rudraksha, you should wear it as per RRCT, day and night, even while sleeping, and follow healthy habits such as a sattvic diet and practices such as yoga, mantra chanting, meditation or other holistic practices that promote introspection.
Common Myths Associated with Rudraksha
There is a great deal of misinformation surrounding the wearing of Rudraksha beads, with no scriptural reference or evidence-based testimony.
The following are some examples of this:
Myth: Only Hindus can wear Rudraksha
Fact:
Rudraksha beads are a gift from Mother Nature intended for everyone. They have been traditionally worn for centuries by spiritual practitioners and yogis in Asian countries connected with various religions, but the Rudraksha beads are not associated with any particular religion. The wearer's willingness and faith are the deciding factors, and religion has no bearing on wearing a Rudraksha.
Myth: Rudraksha beads lead to asceticism and disruption of family
Fact:
Rudraksha is commonly worn to improve family and social relationships, attract suitable partners, and have a more satisfying material experience.
Myth: Rudraksha Malas rotates over Food
Fact:
Rudraksha malas do not rotate when hanging over food. This is known as the ideomotor phenomenon, which is a psychological phenomenon in which a subject moves objects unconsciously. Thus, those who hold a rudraksha mala over food or water to demonstrate how it rotates are doing it themselves.
Myth: You need to condition your Rudraksha in Ghee & Milk for 24 hours on Special Days
Fact:
Rudraksha is an agricultural product, it is a seed of a Fruit. Exposure to Ghee & Milk for 24 Hours can increase the chances of Rudraksha being infected with bacteria, insects and pests. This method of consecration is not mentioned in any if the Shastras and should be completely avoided.
Myth: Rudraksha rotates between copper coins
Fact:
It has been claimed that if a rudraksha bead rotates between two copper coins then it is an original rudraksha. We have checked that it is technique that makes the bead rotate and it will hold true with fake beads also that have carved lines or glued surfaces. Any object with an uneven external surface rotates between two copper coins so this test is inconclusive.
Myth: The Rudraksha Milk Test
Fact:
It has been claimed that when a Rudraksha bead is soaked in a glass of milk, it makes the milk remain fresh and unspoiled for 2 to 3 days. After testing it with genuine rudraksha we have not found evidence of it. In many cases we have not even genuine Rudraksha which is a fruit of a tree curdles up the Milk the next day itself.
Myth: The Rudraksha Water Test. Original Rudraksha sinks in water
Fact:
It is commonly claimed that if a Rudraksha bead sinks in a glass of water it sinks if it is genuine. We have repeated this test with many genuine Rudraksha and their density varies so some float and other sink. Many fake Rudraksha are made denser and will sink in water thus this test is unscientific and inconclusive.
Myth: Women cannot wear Rudraksha
Fact:
Shiva Mahapurana Chapter 25, Vidyesvara Samhita, clearly states: “People of all the Varnas, Ashramas and the women should wear Rudraksha as it is Lord Shiva’s command.” Wearing rudraksha during the menstrual cycle is not forbidden in any scriptural reference. Thus, this statement is incorrect due to a lack of knowledge.
Myth: You cannot eat Non Veg or Drink Alcohol if you are wearing Rudraksha
Fact:
The Srimad Devi Bhagavatam, Book 3, Chapter 6.8, mentions: 'If the wearer of Rudraksha eats meat, drinks alcohol and visits those, whom one is forbidden to meet or even contact, even then that person does not incur any sin'. In the Shiva Maha Purana, there are instances where Danavas and Yakshas are portrayed wearing Rudraksha beads on their arms and head while enjoying madira (madira) alcohol while singing praises to Bhagwan Shiva. They primarily consumed tamasic foods such as meat and adorned themselves with Rudraksha beads while offering prayers to Bhagwan Shiva. However, to experience the best results from Rudraksha it is advisable to become sattvic, eating non veg or drinking alcohol will not give any negative results or side effects however your ability to absorb the full energy of Rudraksha may be reduced.
Myth: Different castes should wear different colors of Rudraksha. Brahmin should wear white, Kshatriyas should wear red, Vaishyas should wear yellow & Shudras should wear Black Colored Rudraksha
Fact:
This is a false narrative, this is mentioned in Jbalo Upanishad which is a minor Upanishad which many scholars do not consider as a true Upanishad, they discredit it by saying that it is castiest and promotes regressive values of a specific Brahmanical Shaivite sect. Rudraksha beads change their color naturally overtime, they go from light sandy brown to Dark brown and black. This is a natural darkening process which every Rudraksha goes through due to the body oils, sweat and climatic conditions.

How to Energize Rudraksha | Pran Pratishtha
Rudraksha beads can be energized on any day. However, Mondays and days like Mahashivratri or Shivratri (monthly), Shravan Maas, Shravan Somvar, Poornima (full moon day) and Amavasya (new moon day) are also considered highly auspicious to energize a Rudraksha bead. The Rudraksha Puja Vidhi is performed with sacred substances such as gangajal water, leaves and flowers, dhoop, camphor, sandal paste, whole rice grains, ghee and others; and the chanting of holy mantras.
At Rudra Centre we perform Basic energization of the Rudraksha beads before sending them to our clients however one can even choose to perform elaborate pran pratishtha procedure by our qualified Vedic Priests. Pran Pratishtha means filling a diving object with 'prana', the life force.
The purificatory process is called Pran Prathisha performed by experts and qualified Brahmins at Rudra Centre. The experts well-versed in Vedas chant suitable mantras dedicated to purifying divine objects and driving away negative energies. These mantras are powerful and their flawless utterances in line with Vedas purify the beads. Once they are purified, they are then neatly packed in clean cloth and delivered to the clients.
It is important to know that this procedure is not mandatory. The Rudraksha bead itself has a life of its own with its own inherent benefits. The ritual of Pran Pratishtha is performed to accelerate the connection of the bead with the energetic body, but it is equally important for the person wearing the Rudraksha to chant its Beej Mantra or “Om Namah Shivaye” regularly, as well as to meditate, in order to tune in with the bead more quickly and reap its benefits faster.

Cleaning and maintenance of Rudraksha beads is simple and straightforward as they do not require any special conditioning. Follow the steps below to regularly clean your Rudraksha beads:
- Soak your Rudraksha in lukewarm water for 15 minutes.
- Scrub the surface to remove any dust particles caught in the grooves using a hard brush.
- Rinse under running water.
- Use the shade of the Sun (indirect sunlight) or a hairdryer to dry the beads.
- Apply a drop of natural and unscented oil like Olive oil, Almond oil or Sandal oil.
- If you are planning to not wear beads for a long duration, it is advisable to keep them in the fridge to avoid infestation by insects.
- Do not use any chemical cleaner or insecticide or pesticide to clean or treat your Rudraksha.
What should I do if my Rudraksha has cracks?
If there are surface level cracks, applying a small amount of oil should resolve the issue. However, if the seeds have been damaged due to a bigger impact, the rudraksha bead cannot be used for wearing.
What should I do if my Rudraksha becomes affected by mold, white spots, or fungus?
You can soak the Rudraksha in water for few hours and scrub them clean. Usually these develop on the surface and do not harm the internal structure. After this dry the beads in indirect sunlight and apply light oil.
What should I do if thorns of my Rudraksha beads break?
It is natural for the thorns of the beads to break as you wear them regularly. You can liken the thorns to hairs on the skin which shed off naturally and still the skin retains its sensitivity and function. You can be assured that the bead will work as well without many thorns also.
How to dispose of my Rudraksha if it is broken or damaged?
To dispose Rudraksha respectfully simply bury it in soil or immerse it in any Natural Water body.
