These powerful Shiva Mantras in Sanskrit are important tools for getting Lord Shiva's blessings. SHIVA MANTRAS
Mantra 1
॥ ॐ तत्पुरुषाय विद्महे महादेवाय धीमहि तन्नो रुद्रः प्रचोदयात ॥
“Om Tat Purushaya Vidmahe Mahadevaya Dhimahi Tanno Rudra Prachodayat”
Meaning:
'We pray to Mahadeva, the supreme of all the gods, for bestowing upon us intellect and liberation from ignorance.'
Mantra 2
॥ॐ नमः शिवाय ॥
“Om Namah Shivaya ”
Meaning:
' To all the all-auspicious (Shiva) Divine, I bow down '
Mantra 3
॥ ॐ नमो भगवते रूद्राय ॐ ऐं महासरस्वत्यै नमः ॥
“Om Namo Bhagwate Rudraay ”
Meaning:
'This is known as Rudra mantra. Rudra Mantra is recited to get blessing of Lord Shiva. It is considered effective for the fulfilment of one’s wishes'
Mantra 4
॥ करचरणकृतं वाक् कायजं कर्मजं वा श्रवणनयनजं वा मानसंवापराधं ।
विहितं विहितं वा सर्व मेतत् क्षमस्व जय जय करुणाब्धे श्री महादेव शम्भो ॥
'Karcharankritam Vaa Kaayjam Karmjam Vaa Shravannayanjam Vaa Maansam Vaa Paradham |
Vihitam Vihitam Vaa Sarv Metat Kshamasva Jay Jay Karunaabdhe Shree Mahadev Shambho'
Meaning:
' May the Supreme One purify our body, mind and soul from distress, negatives, failure, depression and other evil energies '
Mantra 5
॥ ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम् उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान्मृत्योर्मुक्षीय माऽमृतात् ॥
“Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushti-VardhanamUrvarukamiva Bandhanan Mrityormukshiya Mamritat”
Meaning:
'We offer worship to the Three-eyed Lord (Shiva) who like a fragrance nourishes and nurtures all the living beings. Just as the ripened cucumber is freed from its bondage, may He liberate us from death and bless us with immortality.'
Mantra 6
॥ मृत्युञ्जयाय रुद्राय नीलकन्ताय शंभवे अमृतेषाय सर्वाय महादेवाय ते नमः ॥
“Mrutyunjayaaya Rudraaya Neelakantaya Shambhave Amriteshaaya Sarvaaya Mahadevaaya Te Namaha”
Meaning:
'We bow down to the One (Shiva) who is the conqueror of death and destroyer of material illusory manifestations who lets the life again begin, who is blue-throated (Neelkanth).'
Mantra 7
॥ कर्पूरगौरं करुणावतारं संसारसारम् भुजगेन्द्रहारम् । सदावसन्तं हृदयारविन्दे भवं भवानीसहितं नमामि ॥
“Karpur-Gauram Karunaavtaaram Sansaar-Saara Bhujagendrahaaram Sadaa Vasantam Hridyaravinde Bhavam Bhavaani Sahitam Namaami”
Meaning
“I bow to the One (Shiva) who is as pure as camphor, compassion personified, the essence of the world, has the serpent as garland, resides in the lotus-like heart, and is accompanied by Bhavani (Parvati).”
