Chandraghanta Mata Puja

The third aspect of Goddess Durga is Chandraghanta. On the third day of Navaratra worship her Vigraha (image) is worshipped. She wears the semi-circular moon (Chandra) on her forehead. The half-moon on her forehead looks like the bell (Ghanta) and because of that she is known as Chandra-Ghanta. This particular aspect of the Goddess gives extreme peace and provides ultimate good. This Durga Shakti is astride a tiger, displays a golden hue to Her skin possesses ten hands and 3 eyes. Eight of Her hands display weapons while the remaining two are respectively in the mudras of gestures of boon giving and stopping harm. She carries Trishul, Gada, Sword and Kamandal in her four right hands and keeps the fifth right hand in Varada Mudra. She carries lotus flower, Arrow, Dhanush and Japa Mala in her four left hands and keeps the fifth left hand in Abhaya Mudra.   

Chandra + Ghanta, meaning supreme bliss and knowledge, showering peace and serenity, like cool breeze in a moonlit night. She is always in a gesture as if prepared for fighting. Her roaring voice is like a tumultuous sound of a bell that always causes the atrocious Danava, Daitya and Raksasas all to tremble.   

On the third day of Navaratri, the mind of the sadhak enters Manipura Chakra. He developed foresight and power of leadership. By the grace of Mother Chandraghanta all sins of the sadhak (striver) are burnt up and obstacles removed. Maa Chandraghanta rules Planet Sun (Surya).   

Devi Chandraghanta is the remover of sufferings. With grace of this Goddess, any kind of misery or affliction in life quickly gets healed. She destroys devil obstacles from life of her adorers. She makes her devotees Nirbhay (courageous) and Parakrami (mighty). By the grace of Mother Chandraghanta all the sins of the striver are burnt up and obstacles removed. Her worship is instantly fruitful.
