Lord Kartikeya is also known by names Lord Subramanya, Lord Skanda or Lord Murugan, He is son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. In the war Lord Murugan defeats Surapadma and Surapadma turns in to a peacock which Lord Murugan accepts as His mount. As per scriptures, Lord Murugan defeated Surapadma at Tiruchendur, where today stands the Tiruchendur Murugan Temple. Here Lord Kartikeya is worshipped in His Shatru Samharamurti form.
