Skandamata Devi represents the 'Vishuddha Chakra' or Throat Chakra and worshippers focus on the Vishuddha Chakra on Navratri 5th day puja. Vishuddha means pure in all directions. Thus, in this state, worshippers move towards undiluted thoughts. They feel removal of impurities and tensions of outer world, and immerse themselves completely in adherence of Skandamata Devi. Skandamata Devi governs planet Jupiter (Guru).
The Navratri 5th day puja is dedicated to Skandamata Devi the fifth manifestation of Goddess Durga. Skandamata is a name given to Divine Maa Parvati because She is the mother of Lord Kartikeya or Skanda or Kumara, who was chosen by Gods as their commander in their war against the Demons. Devotees perform Skandamata puja to venerate this swarup of the loving, compassionate mother of Lord Skanda/Kartikeya, on Durga puja 5th day. When the evil Asura (demon) Tarakasura incessantly terrorized Heaven and Earth and all Devta (deities), Rishi-Muni (Saint, holymen) and Manushya (mankind) were tired of his torment as well as rampant domination, then Kumar Kartikey was the only almighty who demolished the tyranny of the colossal Tarakasura. Being the powerful deity Lord Kartikey's mother, Maa Parvati is glorified with the name Skanda Mata which means mother of Skanda. Skandamata Devi is the true Goddess of endurance. She is represented with four arms, both Her right and left upper hands hold a Lotus flower each and with the other two lower arms Skandamata Devi holds the six-faced infant Kumar Kartikeya who sits on Her lap. Skandamata Devi is also revered with name 'Padamasana devi' as she sits on Lotus in state of meditation.
The mesmerizing and powerful Skandamata Devi is dedicatedly worshipped by devotees on Navratri 5th day puja. Worshipping Skandamata Devi also garners blessings of the powerful Lord Skanda/Kartikeya automatically. The Divine and pure Skandamata Devi benevolently rewards devotees.
