The primary Deity of this Puja is Pratyangira Devi, a powerful manifestation of Goddess Shakti/Parvati, with Ugra(fierce) appearance. Her iconography depicts Her with the head of a Lion and a feminine human body. It is believed that She commands the combined power of Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Maa Shakti and is also said to be a form of Goddess Bhadrakali. Pratyangira Devi fiercely protects Her devotees.
Vipreet Pratyangira Puja Sadhana and Mantra Jaap is performed to invoke Her and seek blessings of victory over enemies. This Puja is done when a devotee is threatened by enemies and their evil intentions. The main objective of Vipreet Pratyangira Puja and Mantra Japa is to protect from ill-effects of Black Magic. The word Vipreet means opposite. Through this Puja and Vipreet Pratyangira Mantra Japa, a devotee is shielded against any ritualistic actions done by enemies, against them and also the power of the evil ritual returns or boomerangs back the energy with twice the impact to the enemies.
