Nandi is the Celestial Bull and the Vahana of Lord Shiva. His statue is found in Shiva temples, sitting outside the main temple door which houses the Shivlinga, with His face towards the Lingam in submission. Nandi is the vehicle of Lord Shiva and also the guardian of the gates of Mt. Kailash, the abode of the divine Lord. He is a devout devotee of Lord Shiva and symbolizes wisdom, restrained power, humility, patience, protection, submission, and devotion.
